Galatians Class
Description
This one-week intensive will immerse students in Paul’s letter to the Galatians. This is a dense, shocking, and beautiful letter which distills many of Paul’s key theological ideas and is thus an excellent entry point to the study of the Pauline corpus. Class time will be split between lectures and group discussion, with an emphasis on the latter. Lectures topics will include an overview of Pauline theology, OT and Jewish background to Paul, and the history of interpretation of Pauline literature (among other topics). Class discussion will require students to have engaged carefully with the text of Galatians and with the assigned commentary beforehand. Each student will also present on a topic of interest for feedback and discussion from classmates.
